What effect does fresh content have on seo efforts? I thought fresh content was just for frequent crawling by the spiders.

I agree... staying on top in seo takes ongoing work and effort. Your post is a very useful and refreshingly honest reminder.

SEO is the thing to be constantly "backed-up". Anyway you can catch quickly up the positions if moist of seo work has been done with just posting a few press releases and articles. That's what I am personally doing. Many people think that seo can be magically fast and "guaranteed". NO, it can't and will never be. SEO is a long process work, including much of creativity and wisedom.

Seo is not something you do for a few month and let it go, you need to constantly work on your seo including link building and content.
My seo firm stays strong on the first page of google for many keywords because we never stop creating content and updating.
