I make pretty websites for money. This is my blog.

Help! My Website’s Disappeared!

My web hosts decided to take my business website offline as some kind soul had decided to compromise my server and upload a rogue PHP script. Helpfully, they did this on a Friday afternoon, leaving me bugger all time to respond to it, my site was taken down and leaving me without a site until Monday because the bastards take “up to 24 hours” to respond to email queries and don’t work weekends. They also don’t provide a phone number for technical support, something easily overcome by ringing their sales number and asking for them.

Crucially, my incoming mail is bouncing as the DNS isn’t pointing to anything.

Thanks a fucking bunch Streamline.net. Little did I realise when I first signed up with them – my fault for not doing my homework – that they’re merely re-sellers for Fasthosts, so all their technical support is just forwarded to Fasthosts. Too many cooks spoiling the broth. I’ve now moved the site elsewhere. Snoops among you witll no doubt already have realised that this very site is currently hosted with Streamline. I’ve paid for a hosting account with them so I’m going to use it until their ineptitude forces me elsewhere.

The moral of this story is: when selecting your web host, do your homework, even a pro like myself can get it wrong.

o noes! what a bustard thing to happen, someone ran a rogue script on my streamline hosting too, changed every folder’s index.php to their own.

I ended up go with heart internet’s reseller package so I can host all my domains there instead. a month later the same thing happened there!

I hope it all goes well for you! good luck on the Rugby…

I know the feeling. My host decided they wanted £95 a year to continue hosting my web site, so I decided to politely turn them down (although I was swearing at my e-mail inbox) and move on. I then bought hosting with another host (www.dataflame.co.uk) but my previous host would not release my domain name for transfer!

My site was down for about two weeks in total. So I took the time to redesign my site.; when I finally got my site back online I got about four web design requests in about as many days!

Mathew, I cancelled a 3month trial with Streamlline.net and Andrew Dollamore took money from my bank account for a default that never occurred. He well and truly overstepped the mark this timeand I will pursue him for it. Us ex-first class club rugby guys don’t know when to give up – no pain, no gain! Chwarae teg.

I took a free 3 month trial with Streamline.net Cancelled two days later, 3 months later they took 79.87 from my account.
Tracked my records, have copies of cancellation.
    No replies to my emails.
This is happening to other people.
